The Team
Established in 2004 by merging Real Architecture Ltd with T&B Hickman Smith, our combined practice experience spans over 35 years on a wide range of projects. The small dedicated team is headed by the two directors:
Paul Lucas, BA (Hons), Dip. Arch (Birm), RIBA, Director:
Paul qualified from Birmingham School of Architecture in 1987. He gained broad experience in housing, conservation, and commercial projects, before pursuing further study at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales. In 1994, he established Real Architecture to focus on environmental and sustainable design. Paul has an established reputation in this field, and is a member of the Green Register of Construction Professionals and AECB.
Terry Hickman Smith, B. Arch, RIBA, RIAS, MAPM, Director:
After several years with a practice in Edinburgh, Terry and his wife set up T&B Hickman Smith in 1977. Terry’s experience spans a wide spectrum of projects including listed and historic buildings, houses, commercial buildings, hotels and restaurants, and leisure buildings. His expertise covers work for the disabled, environmental assessments, landscape schemes, historic gardens and organic food production.
